Inspiration
The inspiration for EverythingHome came from the need for a centralized AI-driven automation system that doesn’t just live inside a mobile app, but can expand into homes, vehicles, and events. We noticed people juggle dozens of apps for groceries, inventory, reminders, service tracking, and smart devices. EverythingHome aims to merge AR + AI + automation into one platform, giving users a single assistant that truly manages their day-to-day life.
What it does
EverythingHome acts as an AI-powered AR automation hub.
Manages home inventory (e.g., groceries, supplies, medicines).
Sets event reminders (family gatherings, personal plans, deadlines).
Provides home & vehicle service alerts (like oil change, appliance maintenance).
Expands beyond mobile — users can deploy it to an AR interface in their homes, making it feel like a real AI companion and not just another app.
How we built it
Frontend (React/Next.js + AR libraries): For the interactive UI and AR visualizations.
Backend (Node.js + Firebase/Firestore): For real-time data storage, reminders, and authentication.
AI (Gemini API + custom models): Handles automation logic, predictions, and smart suggestions.
Google Cloud GKE: For containerized deployment, scalability, and service orchestration.
Integration with IoT/ESP32 devices (future-ready): For home and vehicle service tracking.
Challenges we ran into
Balancing real-time AR visualization with AI responses without latency.
Structuring the backend to handle both event-based reminders and long-term inventory/service tracking.
Ensuring scalability when moving from local deployment to Google Kubernetes Engine.
Integrating AI decision-making with IoT signals for future expansion.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built a multi-feature platform that merges AR, AI, and automation into one.
Successfully deployed a working version on Google GKE, showcasing cloud scalability.
Designed the project to be extendable to real homes and vehicles, not just as an app demo.
Created a modular architecture so new features (e.g., health tracking, bill payments) can be plugged in easily
What we learned
How to containerize AI + AR applications for scalable cloud deployment.
Best practices for cloud-native architectures with Kubernetes.
How to integrate real-world IoT concepts with AI to push beyond a “normal” app.
The importance of user-centric design when merging multiple services into one assistant.
What's next for Everything home
Deep IoT integration (smart fridges, cars, appliances).
Voice-first interactions to make it more natural and hands-free.
Expanding predictive AI to not only remind users but also suggest optimal actions (e.g., reorder groceries before they expire).
Building a hardware AR device/interface for homes that acts as the physical extension of the system.
Exploring partnerships with retailers and service providers for automated order placements and maintenance scheduling.
