Inspiration

I have been studying the Bhagavad Gita and wanted a way to receive its wisdom at key moments, like when starting something new. This inspired me to create a Chrome Extension that shares Gita verses each time I open a new tab, offering a moment of reflection and guidance.

What it does

EveryTab Gita is a lightweight Chrome Extension that displays a verse from the Bhagavad Gita whenever a new tab is opened. It provides users with inspirational insights to help them stay connected with wisdom throughout their day. The extension utilizes the Bhagavad Gita API from bhagavadgita.io, the Unsplash Image API, and the Google Chrome Built-In API.

How we built it

We built EveryTab Gita using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for a seamless integration with Chrome. The extension uses APIs from Unsplash to show a beautiful nature image, the API from bhagavadgita.io for the translation, the original verse, and the commentary, and the API from Google Chrome Built-In Prompt AI for an Action Plan. The extension is designed to be lightweight and intuitive, ensuring it doesn't affect browsing speed or performance.

Challenges we ran into

The output of Gemini Nano

Some peculiar issues with security and loading libraries. After much trial and error solved that one with ES modules.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

A simple and useful tool which I am using everyday.

What's next for EveryTab Gita

Get it to customers, and add some personalization features (types of images, the choices of translation, additional AI support to craft a poem for a birthday etc).
