Inspiration
While going through everyday activities, we often run into tasks that are easy to do but often tedious and annoying. Instead of stopping for a few minutes to do it by hand, we can use technology to do it for us. Even though it seems like these tasks don't take much time, we realized that in a few days, weeks, or months, they can build up to hours or even days you could potentially spend doing something productive and fun.
What it does
The things it can do so far are: calculate simple arithmetic, find the best choice from a set of items and their prices, find how much longer your car can go without running out of gas, help you organize your schedule, tell you the exact time and date, and tell you a random joke.
How we built it
We coded this program using Java in Eclipse.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into problems such as coming up with ideas for our program to do and making the applications simpler for the user. Our program wasn't always as efficient as we wanted it to be, and some of them have limitations as to the possible number of inputs or outputs.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of not stopping when our program was only able to do a few things. By continuing to think of ways to improve, we progressed our program a lot.
What we learned
We learned that you can turn any little problem in your life into an idea for useful technology. By thinking enough, you can come up with anything you can develop into a much bigger idea.
What's next for Everyday Applications
Hopefully, we'll be able to expand and develop our program to make it more efficient and able to do more things. We hope to add new applications, add to an existing application, make it simpler for people to use and understand, make our program into a website or an app, and more.
