Inspiration

My inspiration comes from my favorite simulation and management games and dress-up games. I also have plenty of clothes in many styles, such as Lolita fashion, JK uniforms, and everyday clothes.

Since high school, the clothes in my wardrobe have kept piling up. Recently, I have started sorting through my clothes, gradually clearing out my closet, and selling some of them secondhand online.

Then I discovered many new clothes at home that I had never worn. They are pretty. If I could organize them in an app with game-like cards, I think I would find it fun. This everyday task would not feel so boring.

What it does

The app turns a photo of one piece of clothing into an illustrated wardrobe card. I can compare it with the original photo before saving it, add my own categories and tags, and bind several cards into an outfit set.

It records how often I wear individual pieces and sets, including several outfit changes on the same day. I can also enable a wardrobe review cycle of 7–365 days and check my current clothes one by one.

Archived clothes and sets go into separate pages in the Past catalog. Their thumbnails turn grey, and opening a card shows its original colors. The original photos are kept too.

How we built it

I worked with Codex through natural language, describing the functions and style I wanted. I used the Devpost Learn skills to work through the scope, requirements, technical plan, and implementation step by step.

The app uses HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a local Node.js server. Google's Gemini API generates the clothing illustrations. Wardrobe data and photos are saved locally.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge for me was deciding exactly what I wanted to happen at each stage. As the AI asked about each part of the app, I had to make my expectations more specific. This step-by-step workflow was unfamiliar to me at first.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

My wardrobe idea has become a working app. A real clothing photo can become an illustrated card, and the app connects that card with organization, wear records, and a separate archive.

What we learned

I do not come from a programming background, but I can communicate my ideas to AI in natural language. This was my first time using such a structured skill workflow.

It felt difficult at first. After going through the steps, I found it more helpful than having a burst of inspiration without a clear direction. It helped me begin to organize my ideas and see a path from an idea to a working app.

What's next for Every piece has its mini card

I want to keep improving the everyday experience of managing my own wardrobe. Later, I would also like to explore an adjustable 2D avatar for outfit previews.
