Inspiration I wanted to explore the theme of “Attract” not just as romance, but as a force that binds people, choices, and even dangers together. Faeries are beautiful and terrible beings who lure humans into their world—so I built a story where attraction itself becomes both survival and peril.
What it does Everfall is a narrative-driven fantasy romance where you play as Mouse, a human changeling raised in the Autumn Realm. Through choices, you’ll uncover secrets, navigate dangerous alliances, and explore how attraction—to people, power, and destiny—can shape the fate of an entire world.
How I built it I built Everfall in Ren’Py, which gave us the flexibility to combine narrative depth with interactive design. I wrote over 17k words of branching story content and scripted it into Ren’Py using dialogue blocks, menus, and conditional flags to track player choices. I customized the UI with layered images, sound, and toggle settings so players could choose how they experience romance. By blending writing, coding, and design, I created a demo that feels both immersive and replayable.
Challenges - Balancing romance, mystery, and dark fantasy without losing the core theme. Writing meaningful player choices that change outcomes. Creating a PG-13 accessible narrative while still delivering tension and intrigue.
Accomplishments that i am proud of - A playable demo with two full chapters (~17k words). Two love interests with good/bad endings, allowing real replay value. A unique take on “Attract” that isn’t just romantic, but also dangerous and thematic.
I learned how powerful attraction can be as a design lens—it’s not just about characters falling in love, but about the pull of choices, risks, and consequences. I also grew in branching narrative design, pacing tension, and building lore-rich settings.
I plan to expand the story to a full 10-chapter release, deepen player relationships with the princes, and introduce more realms of Faery. Ialso want to polish the art/UI, expand accessibility features, and keep refining how attraction shapes every path a player takes.
