Inspiration
Because of the lack of versatile, event-planning software, we wanted to provide a dynamic platform to manage event-hosting, invites, and check-ins.
What it does
Eventualize allows event organizers to create their own events for public usage, generates QR codes to said events and provides a sign-up form for participants to check in with.
How we built it
We used a React-JS-CSS tech stack for the main website, utilized the qrcode.react library for QR code generation, and MongoDB for the user authentication system. Additionally, we used the lucide-react library for icons + design language.
Challenges we ran into
Unfortunately, we were not able to fully implement the check-in system, however we were able to create the rest of the backend, user auth, and event planning. We also struggled with learning how to interface with and incorporate the qrcode.react library in a final software product. Lastly, creating a minimalistic UI to ensure that everything flowed cohesively was a challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Even though we left the check-in system on the table, we were able to implement what we set out to do, namely, incorporating a QR code generator and a live events planner into one single app on time.
What we learned
In addition to using the qrcode.react library, Eventualize introduced some of our frontend developers to the backend process for the first time and strengthened our understanding of web-development with React.
What's next for Eventualize
We'd like to host a live-service form of the Eventualize software, centered around customizing the events-planning for the user & adding more flexibility to event creation, giving the user more agency in the organization process.
