Inspiration

Kyroma was inspired by a recurring gap we noticed in the creative industry: talented photographers often struggle to find legitimate opportunities to build their portfolios or get paid, while event planners struggle to discover reliable photographers without endless searching. Early-career photographers face a catch-22 - they need experience to get hired, but need to get hired to gain experience. We wanted to build a platform that enables real portfolio growth through legitimate event work, while still supporting professional, paid transactions for experienced creatives.

What it does

Kyroma is a curated event photography marketplace that connects event planners with both emerging and experienced photographers. The platform supports open-shoot opportunities for portfolio building and paid shoots for professional work, encouraging real transactions and intentional career growth. Gemini-powered insights are layered into the experience to help photographers choose opportunities that best align with their skills, goals, and long-term career trajectory.

How we built it

Kyroma was built as a full-stack marketplace with a dedicated photographer dashboard, event discovery system, and structured bidding workflows. During development, we used Google AI Studio extensively to accelerate our prototyping and iteration cycle. AI Studio allowed us to rapidly experiment with Gemini prompts, evaluate model outputs, and refine structured responses before integrating them into our application logic.

We integrated Gemini 3 Flash Preview to power real-time, event-level Personalized Career Fit Analysis, generating match scores and explainable reasoning. For deeper analysis, we used Gemini 3 Pro Preview to conduct holistic portfolio gap analysis and generate strategic career recommendations. Using AI Studio enabled us to validate these features quickly, adjust prompts for consistency, and move from concept to working implementation within hackathon constraints.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was defining Gemini’s role carefully. We needed AI to enhance decision-making without replacing the core marketplace experience. Balancing prompt complexity, output consistency, and performance - while keeping responses explainable and useful - required multiple iterations and trade-offs during development.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Building a functioning two-sided marketplace within a short development window
  • Leveraging AI Studio to rapidly prototype and validate Gemini-powered features
  • Successfully integrating two Gemini 3 models for distinct analytical use cases
  • Designing AI outputs that directly support real-world career growth

What we learned

We learned how powerful AI Studio can be for fast iteration and prototyping, especially when developing AI-driven product features. We also gained experience designing prompts that produce structured, actionable, and explainable outputs aligned with real user goals.

What's next for Kyroma

Next, we plan to expand event coverage, refine recommendation accuracy, and introduce planner-side intelligence tools. Long-term, Kyroma aims to become an end-to-end platform for intentional creative career development.
