What does Eventifly do?
Often times, we see fliers around campus promoting events but we quickly forget about them. Eventifly allows you to simply snap a picture of a flier and it automatically creates a calendar event with all the accurate information including the event title, the time and date, along with a short description of what the event is.
How we built it
We developed the front end of the application through Swift and the back end through Google App Engine. We used Google's Vision API for text recognition in order to retrieve data from the flier.
Challenges we ran into
We had no experience working with Google App Engine/Google API/Firebase. Limited experience communicating between iOS client and JS server on the Google Cloud Platform.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite having limited experience, we managed to complete a fully functional app over the weekend.
What we learned
We learned how to integrate Google API/Google App Engine.
