Inspiration
A plethora of people each year are left alone at a Hackathon struggling to find a team. Even more people have difficulty with their networking skills, and end up not creating any meaningful connections.
What it does
By streamlining the networking process, individuals need not worry about not making any friends or not finding a team. By being presented a list of users on the app that are attending the same hackathon, the user can check each persons github account, and look at their past projects to determine whether or not they want to connect with them. In addition, the app has a built in linked-in connection to add people on the fly.
How we built it
Powered by Angular, MongoDB and StdLib, EventConnect is a lightweight mobile optimized web app that solves any hackers worst nightmare.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge we ran into was that we initially started development on React Native, however the learning curve and processes we wanted to create in tandem with our limited React Native knowledge limited the possibilities of Event Connect. Instead, we pivoted towards using Angular along with a MEAN Stack.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The biggest accomplishment we are proud of is the easy to use interface.
What we learned
We learned how to use Angular and the MEAN Stack.
What's next for EventConnect
The next step for EventConnect is to include messagining within the WebApp itself.
