Inspiration

With the American loneliness epidemic being higher than ever, there are times that we struggle to find others to befriend. At the same time, we also struggle to find people to make plans with. Eventgram serves as a social media app for planmaking. For example, someone who wants to go to a concert and has no one to go with can make a post on the app. Another person who has nothing to do in their day can join the other person to go to the concert.

What it does

EventGram is a fullstack web page which allows users to create events, view events, RSVP, and much more! Users will be able to interact with other users’ events and see what all the hype is about.

How we built it

We used a react and next.js stack to develop this website, and used Supabase for the backend as well.

Challenges we ran into

At first we struggled with pushing, pulling, and committing through github. Dealing with merge conflicts took two hours of our time, until we asked the pariveda tutors for help, and they taught us everything we needed to know about Github. Another struggle we had was connecting our backend database to the frontend since we never made a fullstack application before, after 5 hours, we were able to display our information in the frontend onto the backend.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were very proud of being able to display our data from the database to the frontend, as this marks our very first ever full stack application.

What we learned

We learned how to use github. git commands, and solving merge conflicts. We learned how to make react components. We learned how to use Supabase and how to connect the database onto our frontend react application.

What's next for Event Planner

We plan to figure out how to insert, edit, and delete data from the frontend application to the database. We plan on finishing the RSVP and Comments component and its connection to the databases. We plan on adding accounts and pictures to the media posts.
