Inspiration
We wanted to address the issue of the lack of interconnectivity and the ability to find communities/organized events especially during the pandemic. We wanted to develop something to mitigate this issue.
What it does
Event Nexus aims to foster community and connections based on similar interests. Users can set their availability and interests and Event Nexus will automatically recommend them events with like minded people.
How we built it
We built it using ReactJS for the frontend and Express for the backend.
Challenges we ran into
We initially started the project with Vanilla JS but quickly realized that it was too limiting relative ot the scope of the project so we decided to switch over to React. This transition was time consuming and challenging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The algorithm we used to recommend users events based on their availability and interests was very good. The user interface also looks very nice and is something we are proud of.
What we learned
We learned a lot about ReactJS, planning a project from just an idea, and full-stack development.
What's next for Event Nexus
Going forward, we’d like to build more features and improve user experience.
