Inspiration

Public charging stations are a pain to work your day around. Stuck in a parking lot for hours, waiting for an EV to charge. But with EVConnect, you could be buying groceries, studying at a cafe, or even just enjoying the day, watching a movie or taking a stroll in the park – all while your car charges securely nearby. With 25% of Canadian EV owners still renting, our app provides a great solution for those without home chargers.

What it does

Our app collects several user inputs, such as current location, travel urgency, and destination type (e.g., attraction class). EVConnect then locates all nearby Electric Vehicle Charging stations near the selected attraction. You'll receive a dashboard listing eligible charging stations, along with their details and benefits.

How we built it

A combination of Python, Java, and XML with a variety of software, including Visual Studio Code, Figma, and Android Studio.

Challenges we ran into

  • Using unfamiliar coding software and languages, immersing ourselves in a brand new language
  • Incorporating coding languages into different softwares
