C1 - evaluate.ME

Inspiration

Language can act as a barrier for effective communication. All of us would have faced situations where we were not able to communicate effectively. Gaining mastery in languages is no easy task, it requires a lot of practice and periodic assessment. We also observed that the presence of technology was scarce in this field. It didn't take a long time for us to put two and two together to figure out the opportunity we had stumbled upon. Here @evaluate.ME we wanted to create a solution where people could gain mastery in linguistic ability through their mobile device. This mission resonates with our vision of enabling people speak more effectively and gain mastery in different languages. We strive to make the world a better place by making communication more effective

What it does

evaluate.ME is so much more than a tool to assess the linguistic ability of the users. It is a platform to gain linguistic mastery. Each user had a unique credential to log into the platform. As soon as a new user is registered, he/she is prompted to take a sample test in reading, speaking and comprehension. Our AI tool analyses the result based on various parameters such as accuracy, fluency, speed, accuracy, accent, pronunciation and many more. Based on the result, the level of the user’s linguistic ability is determined. The user is then recommended books, podcasts and comprehension passages to upskill himself. Once the user feels that he is ready to move on to the next level. A test is generated on demand and the result determines his promotion evaluate.ME has been designed in such a way that it can be used by organizations such as schools and universities and even individuals. A teacher can create a virtual classroom and access the results and the detailed report generated by the platform.

How we built it

Building a solution to cater to this niche was no easy task. The UI and UX has to be beautiful and intuitive to prompt the user to stick on to the app and upskill themselves. The accuracy and efficiency of our AI tool is also important to make sure that the platform functions as expected. Despite all this we also need to make sure that the platform is not performance hungry and is streamlined to work on different platforms. We first designed a couple of wireframes to visualize how the service works. We took this low-fidelity wireframes to a group of educators and gained valuable insights from their feedback. With this insight we returned to the drawing table and started designing a medium-fidelity wireframe. This is where we stand as of now. Improving the UI and UX wireframes are our main focus. We are going to take these wireframes and return to our group of trusted individuals to gain more insights. Reiteration and continuous development of the UI and UX is important to make the product fit the market

Challenges we ran into

When we first started developing this solution, we had a lot of unanswered questions. We researched the problem statements and gained a little more understanding on what the problem demands. Creating wireframes was not as easy as we expected. The insights we gained from our advisors really helped in making the service better.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of what we have accomplished till date. In a span of 3 days, we were able to:

• Come up with a viable solution to the given problem statement
• Gain insights from potential users
• Work together as a team

We gained a lot of knowledge on how the app development process works the importance of product design and the importance of user feedback

What's next for evaluate.ME

Evaluate.ME is just getting started. We want to continue on our path of building the solution and launching it. We see this as a service that has potential to revolutionize the ed-tech industry.
