Inspiration
Solution context: According to “Houston Electric Vehicle (EV) Challenges” from 2019 Houston’s Climathon, “Many people lack awareness of the pocketbook benefits of EVs, the subsidies available to EV purchasers, the environmental and health benefits of EVs, and the positive experience of driving an EV. Awareness is a key driver for increasing EV adoption in a region.”

How we built it
Our project is in the idea stage. Nonetheless, following is our solution description. EV Scholarship Challenge has two categories, which means there will be two winners. Also, the runner-up gets a prize, too!
$1500 Essay Category: Write a maximum of 1000 words essay about the benefits of riding EV in Houston.
$1500 Social Media Category: Post a picture with a caption “Where is EV?” with a car emoji. Post it on social media and whoever has the most “likes” within one week since the posted date wins. (Hint: Take a photo with celebrity, if possible. Be as creative as you can to get to reach your goal!)
Make sure to make your post public, so that we can keep the count for the “likes.” You will not get the credit, if we cannot see your post. Follow our Tweeter, Instagram, and Facebook page to check if we got your score correctly.
Runner-up for both categories gets a electric scooter.

Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge is fundraising for this scholarship program. Our challenge is to find a sponsor to sponsor this scholarship program.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Sohee Park has applied to thirteen scholarships over the summer and earned $3000 scholarships. We believe that scholarship is a great way to educate the public, especially students who will make difference in the future.
What we learned
We learned that it is important to help the public understand that EV is for everyone. That is how we can bring change to Houston.
What's next for EV Scholarship Challenge
Future plans of the team How to start this challenge: • Create the scholarship webpage. • Create a place to turn in the essay. • Create a Tweeter, Instagram, and Facebook account. • Gather $3000 and the money to buy the electric scooter. Ideal situation would be that a company like Tesla would sponsor this scholarship. Also, an electric scooter company could donate two scooters and have their name mentioned on the scholarship webpage.
How to maintain this challenge: • Hire someone who will update the top 10 people with most “likes” on the various social media platform. (e.g. Twetter @SallyJames received around 550 likes within a week. @JustinRocks received 500 likes within a week.)
How to finish this challenge: • Have a judge or judges read the essays. • Award the winners.
