Inspiration
Eutopia - we make finding Corona-related projects easy.
This project was proposed as an idea to the german hackathon WirVsVirus community and we started building on the existing structure: ideas, project, communities. The idea was so popular that 120 people registered for it on the telegram channel, which signals the need and the interest of people to see such an idea succeed and potentially to bring the own book (they own data).
We specified and expanded the idea by adding a SemanticMediaWiki where the project catalog lives. It has a search interface and the possibility to add your own projects. A Meta Search tool was implemented with the help of our hands-on mentor Philipp Gühring. The coolest feature, by far, being the possibility to export this data in machine readable format so that everyone can build on it, expand it, and improve it. Sharing the knowledge is key!
The metasearch engine helps people to see a lot of information is collected in one place and helps to get a better overview.
What it does
We created a Corona OS to shoot the intransparency of the crisis and built a way to give an overview of the social engagement. In simple words: an #nonstophackathon that lasts as the corona crisis lasts.
It makes social interaction much easier to get involved. Goto online(safe) library, catalog of ideas, projects, communities and tools that can help everyone get involved and get informed about the collaborative social solidarity to help tackle the corona virus crisis. The platform helps to get information efficiently and thus saves time and reduces costs for the user.
How I built it
Executive Summary
*AWS Server Installation
*Semantic Wiki Installation
*Meta-Search Integration
*Bringing everything together on a wixsite
*Project & Community Analysis and Integration of Data in the Wiki
*Video Pitch & Prototype Demo
We made use of our team’s development skills (server administration, wiki configuration, UX) and content management skills to create a platform (the go to virtual library). We guide the user through a variety of options, outlined in the header menu on our landing page (user journey). They represent different facets of contribution: Idea - a gathering place for people to unleash their creativity and shape a goal that can change the world, Projects - an expandable catalog of existing goals people and organizations are already working on, Community - a list of entities who helps in different aspects of the crisis all joined under the same vision and mission Meta-Search Tool - multiple search engines combined to display the most relevant search results.
Challenges I ran into
Mostly technical issues while installing the semantic wiki and with the instability of video-meetings.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Managing and overcoming all the challenges during the hackathon!
What I learned
It's amazing what can be acccomplished in short time without the need to code.
What's next for Eutopia
Bringing the puzzle pieces together to one server and domain and make it more user friendly, collecting data, implementing a Discourse forum, more hackathons like the upcoming swiss hackathon and more.
Shape the Future & #NonStopHackathon!
