Inspiration

The academic year 2020/2021 will probably be the only year since 1987 in which there will be no Erasmus participants or European volunteers thanks to the European Solidarity Corps. But we are still in time for all these young people, who have already been awarded a scholarship for that course, to continue with their plan to carry out a learning experience and offer their support to help other people and NGOs. Thanks to Europe to Me we can create specific virtual spaces by sector of interest (IT, Tcs, Communication, social challenges, coding, community manager, mentoring, etc.), managed by experts, who will offer volunteers a place to learn every day and at the same time, carrying out small tasks to help NGOs and third sector organizations that need these services.

How I built it

I am designing a web platform using WordPress, which can be multi language and offer the necessary tools to be able to have virtual "classrooms" and organize tasks as well as sectors of interest. A volunteer will be able to choose first the Hub in which they want to participate, then carry out the preparation training and finally participate daily, as if it were a normal volunteer. This modality may also be helpful for those who have to carry out an internship (Example: Erasmus internships), because at the end of the project each participant will receive a Youthpass / Europass certificate in order to see their work recognized.

Challenges I ran into

Many countries in Europe and their citizens are not yet ready to jump into the digital world. If we start already, turning into an opportunity that until now has been a disgrace, we can contribute to gradually making Smart Work become commonplace and, above all, to letting everyone know how to organize and manage Smart Work.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Continue to take advantage of European opportunities such as Erasmus and European Solidarity Corps to train as a professional and European citizen, contribute to strengthening social cohesion in Europe thanks to the solidarity of its citizens, recognize volunteering and internships as very enriching learning experiences, which They complete formal education and guarantee a high probability of finding a job or developing your own company.

What I learned

I have been an Erasmus + student and intern, I have been a European volunteer and I know what opportunities these experiences offer. I leave a very small town in Sicily with 21 without professional experience or Master's studies and after 15 years, thanks to European projects, I can consider my professional career as very rich in training experiences and based on cultural exchange for grow as a person.

What's next for Europe to Me

I am looking for traveling friends to embark on this new path of solidarity, where we will have to gather technical teams, to organize virtual Hubs and mentors to organize training activities
