Inspiration
The inspiration behind Eurecat Smart Garden stems from a deep appreciation for the synergy between technology and horticulture. We sought to create a platform that not only automates garden care but also leverages data for intelligent and personalized plant nurturing.
What it does
Eurecat Smart Garden is an innovative platform that automates garden care by integrating sensor data and artificial intelligence. It provides real-time insights into plant health, automates watering systems, and empowers users to cultivate thriving gardens with precision anywhere around the world
How we built it
Our team is made up of a backend developer and IoT researcher, a full-stack developer, and a data scientist. The platform was built using a combination of cutting-edge technologies. We integrated MQTT for seamless sensor data communication, implemented advanced AI algorithms for predictive plant care, and developed a user-friendly interface to make the technology accessible to all garden enthusiasts.
Challenges we ran into
During the development process, we encountered several challenges because we were all collaborating on different aspects of the project using Git. Some of the challenges we had to overcome were data synchronization, algorithm optimization, and user experience design and these challenges and overcoming them were key milestones in realization of our project
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are happy to see we were able to work on a lot of things within 24 hours and we are glad and this shows the power of collaboration. We are happy with all our implementations from the successful implementation of AI-driven predictions, to the user-friendly interface, and the reliable automation of watering systems. Also, the friendship we developed within the next 24 hours is very important to us.
What we learned
The project provided valuable insights into the intricate balance between technology and nature. We learned to navigate challenges in a collaborative environment, refine algorithms, and create a holistic solution that caters to the unique needs of both novice and experienced gardeners.
What's next for Eurecat Smart Garden
The journey doesn't end here. A lot can be achieved with this model. One thing we can do is to keep working together to include continuous refinement and expansion. We can incorporate more advanced sensors, enhance AI capabilities, and gather user feedback to evolve the platform into the ultimate companion for smart and sustainable gardening. Another thing will be to incorporate live camera imaging based on computer vision where we can compute descriptors and detectors such as SIFT or keypoints from the plants to make real-time decisions on the current condition of the plant.
