Briefly describe your project in relation to the design prompt (max 200 words)

Eunoia reimagines workplace wellness through play, aligning with the prompt to design spaces that power people. Inspired by CBRE’s human-centered design approach, we created a gamified digital environment where mood check-ins and team growth feel like leveling up in a pixel adventure game. Our goal was to make workplace wellness interactive, accessible, and genuinely enjoyable.

Describe your main design decisions and how they contribute to your product (max 300 words)

Our key design decisions centered on creating a balance between playfulness and professionalism. We chose an 8-bit pixel aesthetic to emphasize nostalgia and approachability, turning wellness into something lighthearted and engaging. However, to ensure accessibility and visual harmony, we refined the color palette with soft, modern tones that complement the retro design without overwhelming users.

We designed Eunoia’s interface around three primary user goals: checking in with emotions, completing wellness challenges, and tracking progress. The dashboard and mood tracker use visual storytelling such as animated icons, level-based progress, and character-inspired avatars to make self-reflection enjoyable. This approach increases emotional engagement while maintaining clarity and usability.

Inspiration

We wanted to reimagine workplace wellness through play. Inspired by CBRE’s human-centered design approach, we built Eunoia - a gamified space where mood check-ins and team growth feel like leveling up in an adventure game. Our ultimate goal was creating a space that made work fun!

What it does

Eunoia transforms team wellness into an experience. Users check in with their mood, complete challenges, and track personal and team growth all inside a pixel-inspired interface designed to boost engagement and wellness!

How we built it

We designed Eunoia in Figma, focusing on that 8-bit design and smooth user flows. Our process included research, wireframing, prototyping, and creating components for mood tracking, wellness, and collaborative changes!

Challenges we ran into

Initially, figuring out where to start was difficult, we had so many ideas and it was difficult to commit to all of them so we sat down and discussed which components ruled over others and created a composed list of things we wanted this product to have. From here it was a bit easier to follow the flow of creative design and finalize a theme and base design. After this, we ran into an issue with balancing the retro vibes with modern, clean, accessible user-interface. To combat this, we made edits to the color scheme which provided that soft, comforting look we were going for. Finally, just when we thought we were smooth sailing, we were faced with prototyping issues that required a lot of googling and a bit of Youtube.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of designing Eunoia from the ground up, with no references as to how a user-interface could be fully 8-bit retro themed, we came up with this beautiful interface through hard work, persistence, and a lot of creativity.

What we learned

We learned how to build dynamic prototypes in Figma, create variant based interactions, and convey a concept through visual storytelling in a fun and interactive way. This experience was a fun and interactive journey filled with growth!
