Meet EthnoLens Tactile: Hardware-driven AI for global design safety by Veronika Kashtanova, creator of Adobe’s EthnoLens AI.
-
Cultural mistakes cost brands millions. Late-stage detection is too expensive; we need a fix within the design flow.
-
The Solution: One button, one vibration, zero risks. Detecting cultural sensitivities BEFORE the design is complete.
-
Seamless loop: MX Console triggers analysis, Gemini AI reviews content, and MX Master 4 provides tactile score feedback.
-
Tactile Intelligence: Specific haptic patterns for Safe, Risks, and Issues states using the Logi Actions SDK.
-
High-Level System Architecture: Seamless integration between Logitech hardware, C# plugin logic, and Google Gemini AI.
-
Data Flow Sequence: Step-by-step logic of the real-time cultural audit, from screen capture to haptic confirmation.
-
Haptic Event Mapping: Precise translation of AI risk scores into tactile feedback using Logi Actions SDK waveforms.
-
Plugin Class Structure: Clean, modular architecture designed for the Logi Actions SDK ecosystem using C#/.NET 8.
-
The Tech Moat: Google Gemini multimodal AI + Logitech hardware integration = Zero friction design audits.
-
Market Potential: Targeting 40M Logitech users with a $2.5B total addressable market in global design safety.
-
Competitive Edge: The only tool combining hardware integration, haptic feedback, and in-flow analysis for designers.
-
Sustainable Growth: A scalable three-tier Freemium SaaS model designed to protect brand reputation globally.
-
Direct revenue share with Logitech Marketplace and high LTV targets for professional users.
-
Growth Roadmap: Building a new category in design safety with a target of 50,000 active users by Q4 2026.
-
Execution Timeline: From pitch to a production-ready C# plugin with live hardware integration by May 2026.
-
Strategic 3-phase plan from pitch to MVP, ensuring a production-ready tactile AI delivery by April 2026.
-
Why Logitech: Solves a $2.5B problem using unique hardware haptics. Proven AI expertise ready for the big stage.
-
Future of Design: Designers need cultural checks integrated, tactile, and available now within their creative tools.
EthnoLens Tactile: Hardware-Driven AI for Global Inclusion
🌟 Inspiration: The Million-Dollar Oversight
Every year, global brands like Nike, Starbucks, and H&M face massive social media backlash and lose millions in brand damage due to cultural insensitivity. The real problem? Designers usually check for cultural risks after the work is finalized. By then, redesigns are too expensive, and launches are delayed.
I wanted to bridge this gap by creating tactile cultural intelligence. My goal was to move the audit from a friction-heavy report at the end of the cycle to a seamless, one-button physical interaction during the creative process.
🚀 What it does: Design Safety at Your Fingertips
EthnoLens Tactile is a universal plugin for the Logitech MX Creative Console and MX Master 4.
One-Click Audit: Press a button on the Actions Ring to trigger a Gemini AI analysis of your current workspace (Figma, Photoshop, or Web).
Tactile Feedback: Instead of just reading a score, you feel it. The plugin uses haptic waveforms to signal safety (Happy Alert) or high-risk issues (Angry Alert) directly through the mouse.
Intuitive Region Switching: Use the console’s encoder to rotate through global markets (NA, EU, Asia, MENA) and see how your design performs in different cultural contexts.
🏗️ How I built it: The Tech Stack
The project is built on a robust, multi-sensory architecture designed for the Logitech DevStudio 2026 Challenge.
Plugin Core: Developed in C#/.NET 8 using the Logi Actions SDK. I implemented
PluginDynamicCommandfor multi-state analysis andAdjustmentActionfor region-switching logic.Haptic Intelligence: Leveraging the
HasHapticMappingcapability, I mapped AI-generated risk scores to specific device vibrations, creating a "physical intuition" for cultural safety.AI Backend: A Google Cloud Run instance serves as the bridge, using the Gemini API for multimodal analysis of workspace screenshots.
Universal Link: Using
ClientApplicationlinking, the plugin remains software-agnostic, working wherever the designer is most creative.Ethics & Safety: I applied AI Design Safety principles to ensure the Gemini-driven analysis remains objective and helpful.
Proven Logic: The solution is a Production-Ready AI system, leveraging my experience as an Adobe Express Marketplace Publisher.
🧠 What I learned & Challenges
Map Abstract Data to Sensation: Translating an AI risk score into a haptic waveform requires a deep understanding of human-computer interaction.
Solo Development: Balancing the architecture, backend, and frontend as a Solo Developer required precise planning and efficient resource management.
Haptic Mapping: Finding the right balance between a "Happy Alert" and an "Angry Alert" that feels professional rather than distracting was a process of trial and error.
📈 The Future: Category Leadership
EthnoLens Tactile is first to market in tactile design safety. I am committed to making the world’s design more inclusive, one tactile click at a time.
About the Founder: I am a Software Engineer with 10 years of experience and a proven track record of shipping production-ready AI products, including the EthnoLens AI add-on for the Adobe Express Marketplace. As a verified Adobe Express Marketplace Author, my flagship tool is already helping designers worldwide navigate cultural nuances. For the Logitech DevStudio Challenge, I’m scaling this vision to hardware, creating the first Production-Ready AI tactile experience for the MX Creative Console.
