Inspiration

There are only a few App stores and not more than two websites that handle Ethiopian Calendar also there are some sites that incorrectly converting, especially the one that has millions of visitors is totally wrong so I would like to fix these issues and also be the one in the top in the future with a lot of additional futures soon or later.

What it does

This App will Convert any Ethiopian Calendar to a Gregorian Calendar and vice versa. And also it converts local time to international time and vice versa. Finally, it displays local Holiday information.

How we built it

Using Python Programming Language at MecSlimCalc Website with a user-friendly drag-and-drop user interface.

Challenges we ran into

The Algorithm is not easy to create some standard formula because of the nature of the Ethiopian calendar principle with the Gregorian system. especially the way we handle leap year is different than the usual way in the Gregorian system.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The Web App Successfully works both ways of converting any given date.

What we learned

When converting any given data to something without non-standard formula and then returning to the old value with another non-standard formula which looks a little bit complicated but you learn a lot from it and then also you will experience the concept of reverse engineering somehow in your code.

What's next for Ethiopian Calendar Converter

This app will help a lot of people including foreigners and diasporas but especially my people because it is almost mandatory for the whole 120 Million Ethiopian People this day and more in the future. There fore this version tries to include all local including all spiritual events and holy days but the next version will include international holidays and will also be more dynamic.
