Inspiration
Entering into this all-female hackathon, we wanted to tackle a problem that all women face. We found that most people feel uncomfortable talking about their periods, making it difficult to ask for help. Additionally, we may need a feminine product in an emergency and may not have access to one. Many public restrooms do not have free access to sanitary napkins and periods are unpredictable.
What it does
This is an iOS application which creates a platform/community for women to find and share sanitary products. They may join this community and find women in the area who are willing to help a fellow woman when she desperately needs a sanitary napkin. Let other women know you are there to help! let other women know that you are there to help.
How we built it
We built this application with iOS and Apple Maps. We are hosting this app on Azure.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into Azure issues with connecting our database. But, we overcame by hosting a local database. We ran into challenges with learning how to use the mapkit as well as customizing it to be our own tampon image pins on the map. However, we were able to accomplish it through research.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Proud of learning and developing a Swift application. We are proud of tackling a problem that all women face.
What's next for Estr
We plan to continue building the project and hopefully releasing it so we can create more of a community of support/destimagtize periods.
