Project Story: The Custom Essay Grader

About the Project

The project we are working on is a highly efficient, dependable, and user-friendly tool for grading essays and giving feedback. It was made especially to eliminate the students’ usual problems when using other AI-powered writing assistants. Most of these tools on the market are quite limited in terms of upload size, slow in processing, or simply not offering detailed and helpful feedback that can actually result in the essay being improved. We aimed at getting rid of these hardships and presenting the users with a prompt and comprehensive analysis.

What Inspired Us

The project’s origin can be traced back to our own troublesome experience as students. We gradually got addicted to using the AI tools for proofreading and grading our essays. More often than not, the feedback was very superficial or didn’t concentrate on the specific areas we needed to improve, such as flow or argument strength. It struck us that the best way out was to have the tool built from scratch, specifically quick and truly helpful for students like us.

How We Built Our Project

Initial Setup: The first thing we did was to set up the main features: text input, processing logic, and a simple output displaying the grade with comments.

Core Logic: The grading algorithm was the most important part. Since we wanted to go far beyond simple spell-checking, we concentrated on implementing the logic for evaluating structural elements (like paragraph transitions and the
