Genshin Impact and other gacha based games. Also the morbid reality of the esports industry's financial viability.
What it does
A game where you can build your esports team empire by rolling randomized players, mostly from Team Liquid. The more you roll, the more it costs to add more players. Each player has a specific power level (used to determine success in events), salary value and generated income.
Every 60 seconds, your team attends a tournament. If you have enough money to enter (or aren't already in debt) then you can try your hand at the competitive scene! If your team is strong enough, you'll walk away with a pretty prize. If not, you'll have to hope entering the event didn't put you too far into debt...
As time ticks away, the scene gets more and more competitive. When a tournament rolls around and you're already in debt, your career will be over. It's eat or be eaten. Do you have what it takes to succeed in Esports?
The player rarities were decided randomly and do not reflect the personal bias of the creators. The game is intentionally difficult to reflect the real world challenges of becoming a successful Esports organization.
How we built it
We used Figma for prototyping and used React + React Bootstrap for development.
Challenges we ran into
Time constraints given student schedules.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Being able to host it as a functioning web app.
What's next for Esports Tycoon
