Graph theory is an emerging field in systems engineering that looks to apply relationships among data points to extract more descriptive information. Graphs are known as networks, made up of edges which hold weights to quantify relationships and vertices to represent objects. Based on our team’s interest in the financial world, we have seen very little research into applying graph theory to the understanding of equity pricing. Thus, our project looks into determining relationships between stocks to help predict and comprehend pricing. Our final product will be an interactive web interface where users can input a ticker they are interested in, which will display a prediction for how that stock may move, based on our network. Our interface will also suggest top stocks that are expected to move. We hope that by offering this information, we can democratize algorithmic prediction and modeling for stocks for the general public.
