Inspiration

Global B2B cross-border commerce is bottlenecked by multi-week escrow disputes when physical shipments or digital milestones deviate from contract specifications. We built EscrowArena to demonstrate how PayPal Agentic Commerce and PayPal Orders v2 programmable escrow primitives can resolve complex commercial disputes in seconds through a transparent, interactive 4-agent arbitration tribunal game.

What it does

EscrowArena pits four specialized autonomous agents against real-world B2B contract disputes:

  • Buyer Advocate Agent: Analyzes delivery telemetry, SLA breaches, and defect logs to argue for refund or partial capture adjustments.
  • Seller Counsel Agent: Cross-references customs manifests, force-majeure clauses, and partial fulfillment proofs to defend merchant payouts.
  • Forensic Inspector Agent: Verifies SHA-256 cryptographic evidence chains, cold-chain temperature logs, and milestone hashes.
  • Chief Arbitrator Agent: Synthesizes multi-round agent rebuttals and emits an executable PayPal Orders v2 split-settlement payload (AUTHORIZE, CAPTURE, and partial REFUND API calls).

Players can step into the tribunal as Presiding Judge, inject live forensic evidence, cross-examine agents, compare human vs. agentic rulings, and inspect the exact PayPal Orders v2 REST JSON payloads generated in real time.

How we built it

  • Deterministic Multi-Agent Tribunal Engine (engine.js): Zero-dependency browser/Node UMD engine implementing evidence hash-chain verification, utility-weighted Nash bargaining settlement computation, and PayPal Orders v2 state-machine transitions.
  • Interactive Tribunal Courtroom UI (index.html, styles.css, app.js): Built with live evidence injection, 4-agent deliberation rounds, split-escrow sliders, and real-time PayPal Orders v2 webhook and payload inspector.
  • Verification Suite (tests/): 108 automated unit and DOM smoke tests verifying deterministic settlement math, edge-case SLA breaches, and PayPal payload schemas.
