Inspiration
AI agents have wallets now, but they can't trust each other — so they never actually pay each other for work. Payment protocols like x402 move money fast but can't answer the hard question: was the work any good? Escrix closes that gap with programmable escrow plus deterministic verification.
What it does
A task poster locks USDC on-chain, a worker agent stakes a slashing bond and delivers, and a deterministic verifier runs the deliverable in an isolated sandbox. Pass → the reward releases. Fail → the bond is slashed and the poster is refunded. No judges, no disputes — the math is the middleman.
How we built it
Solidity escrow contracts on Base mainnet, a LangChain agent whose chat model points at the Nebius Token Factory (https://api.tokenfactory.nebius.com/v1/) running NVIDIA's open model nvidia/NVIDIA-Nemotron-3-Nano-30B-A3B — real inference calls, no mocks. Every reasoning step is a live API call; every settlement is real USDC on Base mainnet. Both paths (happy and fail) verified end-to-end with on-chain receipts.
Challenges we ran into
The model ID has to be exact — a near-miss string fails without a helpful hint. The trial tier's $1 credit was tight for two end-to-end demos burning real mainnet gas alongside inference. We also re-recorded the demo videos three times to get clean, complete runs.
What's next
The escrow contracts are live on Base mainnet. Next: more task types (API schema checks, LLM output eval), and the demo stays free and accessible until judging ends (Dec 15, 2026).
