Inspiration
Our hackathon theme was transportation, and we wanted to do something fun, competitive, and educational. We came up with the idea of players being stuck in the past and needing to race into the future by answering trivia questions about transportation history.
What it does
Escape the Past is a fast-paced, two-player trivia racing game where players answer transportation-themed questions. When the player answers the question correctly, they move forward. The first player to reach the finish line and "escape the past" wins the game!
How we built it
We built it using Visual Studio Code, HTMl, and CSS
Challenges we ran into
We ran into challenges with making the game competitive, so we switched from a single player game to two-player game on the same device
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the small visual details that elevated the quality of our game and the ability to make the game fast paced and full of adrenaline.
What we learned
We learned how effectively split up tasks when working under pressure and how to allow two players to play on the same device
What's next for Escape the Past
We plan to add boosts and power ups, like a speed boost for those who answer three questions in a row.
