The theme was futuristic cavemen!
What it does
We decided on creating a game where you are a Cave women who happens to stumble upon a researcher from the future taking pictures! The researcher leaves and accidentally leaves the portal open from which they came and like a regular cavemen you hop right in after him! Unfortunately for you, you are now trapped and have about 2-3 minutes to escape the laboratory by solving a puzzle before you meet your end by the researchers! What stays in the past must always stay there!
How we built it
We built it using HTML, CSS, P5.JS, IbisPaintX, and Pixel.art
Challenges we ran into
Hefty challenges we went through was mainly P5.JS and using the correct version of it. Our website would constantly have problems loading our assets every time we touched the file basically. Hopefully by the time this is done we have it under control!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The artwork is really neat! We wanted this game to be fully fleshed out however that was wishful thinking...
What we learned
That Game Design is hard and that unexpected errors can takes days to solve! We also learned more about P5.js and Pixel.art and its perks! We were able to make a good walking animation gif to give an extra spark.
What's next for Escape the Lab
We want Escape the Lab to be a pretty cool personal project that we can go back and look at over the years and one day recreate it to see how much we've grown!
