Escape the Flood 🌊
Intro
Escape the Flood is a remixable obby template designed for the Meta Horizon Creator Competition.
Players race against a rising flood, and creators can easily design new levels by building inside the Assetizer Box.
It was inspired a lot by watching my son playing mobile games with his friends. I was also very motivated to take part in the competition itself. The main issue I had was simply that there is not enough time in a day. We had a lot of fun collaborating and creating this template, and we want to build more.
Features
- Plug-and-play Assetizer Box for custom levels
- Flood Controller with adjustable height, speed, gravity, and player speed
- Mobile-first design, optimized for performance
- Many different ways to remix the levels
- Quick, replayable rounds with infinite creativity
- Multi-stage Queue Playlists implemented to ensure randomization of the loaded level
Quick Start

Level Guidelines
- Keep all geometry of the level you create inside the Assetizer Box
- When creating a new level, all 3 orange mechanical boxes (Flood End, Flood Control, and World Sfx), the spawn, and the end point must be grouped together into the world asset
- Provide at least one Exit Marker, Flood End Height Box, and Sfx Box, and group them all together
- A collider box surrounds the play area to prevent fall-throughs
- Build upwards with interesting paths
Performance Checklist (Mobile)
- Use simple materials & low-overdraw water
- Keep text short and high-contrast
- Ensure geometry runs smoothly on mobile devices
Known Limitations
- Only supports one active level at a time
- Flood increments are percentage-based rather than continuous
- Players can reach a final end goal, but future updates may add a point system that rewards lasting the round as well as reaching the exit
Next Steps
- Make more unique and themed levels for the game
- Design the lobby to be your own
- Experiment with different player, flood, and camera settings
- Develop additional game modes to expand replayability
License
Remix allowed (per MHCP Open Source Competition norms).
