Inspiration
We were eager to try something new, so we tried game development with Unity, since none of us had any prior experience with it.
What it does
Escape is a multi-level 3D puzzle game that gets progressively more difficult and introduces new functionality.
How I built it
Escape was built using Unity. Everything was built from scratch, but certain assets were imported free from the built-in asset store.
Challenges I ran into
Because this was our first time creating a game on Unity, we had to find tutorials on how to get started. We especially had trouble with collision logic, i.e. what kind of interaction should the player have when he or she approaches a certain object?
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are proud to have created a completely functional game with actual logic, especially since none of us have ever worked with such a sophisticated game development kit before.
What I learned
We learned the basic aspects of game development, including collision logic, object interaction, first-person view, terrain, etc.
What's next for Escape
In the future, we plan to add additional levels to the game that progressively get more challenging. In each of the current levels, we plan on adding more complex features and interactions (for example, an inventory bar or health status).
For trying out the game, go to the Google Drive link below, extract the files, and run Titan Hacks 2.0.exe.
