Inspiration
We wanted to show everyone the horror of the Huxley building so we wanted to portray the trauma of being trapped in Huxley.
What it does
It's a platformer game which can shoot Java code missiles. There are scenes that are very reminiscent of the Huxley building we have in Imperial College London, also featuring the most legendary staff. Can unlock Haskell code missiles from the mystery Tony Field room.
How we built it
We built the whole program in python, the functionality of the program and the GUI. The art was designed on online painters and photoshop.
Challenges we ran into
Collisions with players and terrain very hard to change the position of the player correctly and set variables of top/left/right/bottom collisions per player. Camera movement which updates the screen every frame and smoothly so it does not just keep the player in the centre of the screen.
Accomplishments that we are proud of
Making big boss Tony Field. Nice looking animations. Computing Department easter eggs.
What we learned
Organising work in a team for minimal collisions, and if they do conflict, how to resolve them better. How to code in python. How to make a game which updates the screen every frame rather than a static program.
What's next for Escape-From-Huxley
Creating 10 different floors respective for the different floors in Huxley, each different themed, maybe with a lecturer each and you use their specific module content as ammo.
