Inspiration

This project comes straight from our passion as fans. We've always been frustrated by how high the barriers are in motorsports. Our core idea is to build a tool that can get STEM students from anywhere in the world—with all their raw talent and new ideas—hooked on Formula 1.

This simulator is our "way in." It’s our enthusiasm for the sport and our deep interest in tech rolled into one. Our F1 Analytics project was just the start. After spending months analyzing what happened in the 2022-2025 era, we knew the next, most exciting step was to build a tool that asks: "What if?"

What it does

GridPredict is our answer to that "What if?" question. It's a high-fidelity competitive mobility simulator.

It doesn’t just "model" a race; it simulates the entire, dynamic, strategic drama of a Grand Prix. We've plugged our massive 2022-2025 analytics engine into its core, letting it run complex simulations with real-time events—split-second pit stops, tire wear, dynamic weather, and safety cars.

All of this predictive power gets streamed straight to a live, responsive dashboard. It's basically a real-time strategy tool.

Our Progress & Future Goals

We're not just proposing an idea; we're in the middle of building it.

  1. Backend (100% Complete): Our core data backend is done. The Python and PostgreSQL engine, along with all the complex data modeling for the 2022-2025 era, is finished and production-ready.

  2. Current Focus (In-Progress): Right now, we’re in the most exciting phase: integrating our simulation logic with the live React dashboard. We're actively working on the real-time analysis and are literally watching our predictive models come to life.

  3. The Open Platform (Our Ultimate Goal): This is the real vision. We're going to deploy GridPredict as a free, open, and accessible global platform. It'll be the world's first 'open-source pit wall,' giving any student, anywhere, the power to learn, experiment, and compete with real F1 strategies.

Challenges

Look, the main challenge is obvious: balancing genuine realism with high-speed performance. Modeling all the variables of 20 cars in real-time is an incredibly hard problem. This isn't a simple app, but it's a complex engineering challenge that our team is fully focused on solving.

What we learned

Our deep-dive analysis of the 2022-2025 data wasn't just for practice—it gave us the blueprint. It proved to us that races are won and lost in key strategic moments (what we call "Position Delta"), not just by raw pace. That core truth is the foundation of our entire simulator, and it’s why GridPredict is a genuine game-changer, not just another analytics tool.
