Inspiration
Concerns about the environment have been constantly raised, and one problem that the team have identified is that there are many people in Singapore treating these recycling bins as rubbish bins. In order to lower contaminations of these recyclables, the team have come up with an app that will provide the users aid when it comes to recycling.
What it does
The app will be connected to a deep learning machine that will be able to sort images of the item, according to their material. With this feature, users will be able to quickly sort out their garbage from their recyclables without having to doubt, by just user their phone camera. We will also be implementing a feature where users will be able to locate recycling bins near them in Singapore. This will work on a point system where each time a user recycles, they earn points. This app will overall improve the experience and motivate users to start recycling.
How we built it
we built the model based on the dataset https://www.kaggle.com/datasets/mostafaabla/garbage-classification where there are 12 classes of things to sort. We built the prototype on figma.
Challenges we ran into
There was a time constraint and limited things that we could do.
Built With
- figma
