Inspiration Spending long hours sitting in front of a computer is a reality for millions of desk workers and developers. Over time, this takes a toll on the body, leading to eye strain, muscle stiffness, poor posture, and a noticeable drop in productivity. The inspiration behind ErgoBreak came from a real, personal need: how can we take care of our physical health without disrupting our workflow? We wanted to create a smart, friendly, and automated tool that gently reminds users when it's time to stand up, stretch, rest their eyes, and move.

How we built it We developed ErgoBreak as a mobile application focused on user experience and daily wellness.

Interface & Core Logic: Built with a clean architecture to ensure smooth notifications, personalized reminders, and tracking of break habits.

Freemium Model & Monetization: Integrated advanced features (ErgoBreak Pro) managed seamlessly through Google Play Billing and RevenueCat, offering a robust free experience with secure and accessible upgrade options.

Compliance & Deployment: Configured the entire infrastructure on the Google Play Console, navigating data security requirements, health and fitness content declarations, and internal testing tracks for a clean, professional release.

Challenges we ran into The biggest challenge during development wasn't just coding the timers or the UI, but navigating the strict regulations and policies of the Google Play Console for health and wellness apps. From properly structuring privacy policies and app content forms to correctly setting up testing tracks for evaluators, every step required precision to ensure a smooth deployment.

What we learned This project taught us valuable lessons about the modern mobile development ecosystem:

The importance of digital ergonomics: Designing with user health in mind completely shifts the product perspective.

App store compliance: Deeply understanding Google Play’s compliance requirements (privacy, data safety, and testing management) is crucial for successfully bringing an app to market.

Seamless monetization: We saw firsthand how efficient it is to implement subscription management and billing to scale a health app's business model professionally.
