Inspiration
Finding relevant local events is often tedious and fragmented across platforms. We wanted to create a seamless, intelligent search experience that feels as natural as asking a friend.
What it does
Evently lets users search for events using everyday language. The platform interprets queries like "Tech meetups this weekend in Seattle" and returns curated, actionable results with beautiful UI and error transparency.
How we built it
We built Evently’s frontend using React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS for a modern, responsive design. The search leverages a generative AI API to understand user intent and fetch relevant events. We integrated error debugging and glassmorphism UI for clarity and style. Key libraries include axios for API calls and lucide-react for icons.
Challenges we ran into
- Handling ambiguous or incomplete user queries
- Ensuring robust error handling and debugging for API responses
- Managing strict TypeScript types with generative AI outputs
- Designing a UI that’s both beautiful and informative
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built a fully functional AI-powered search with real-time feedback
- Implemented comprehensive error debugging and display
- Created a visually appealing, modern interface with glassmorphism and gradients
What we learned
- How to integrate generative AI APIs with strict type safety
- Advanced error handling patterns in React/TypeScript
- The importance of clear UI/UX for technical transparency
What's next for Evently
- Expand to more event sources and cities
- Add user profiles and event saving features
- Enhance AI model for even smarter recommendations
- Mobile app and real-time notifications
