Inspiration
Trying to ease towards stopping the gender pay gap. We thought to tackle a problem that others usually don't care to pay attention to, despite being a big problem around the country.
What it does
The website takes a state and city/county input, and finds the gender pay gap in that area through API calls. Once shown, the option to talk to an AI chatbot comes up and asks for the professional job the user has, and gives facts and tips about pay discrepancies and how to negotiate to reduce the gap.
How we built it
We utilized a Python backend using Flask to build the website and used HTML and CSS to improve the design, later using multiple APIs to return information to the user through a series of inputs like government censuses and Google Gemini.
Challenges we ran into
Developing the UI to look friendly and elegant and finding a reliable database.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to submit this as our first hackathon project, with the product being fully complete and customized.
What we learned
We learned important teamwork skills and practical GitHub mastery from repeated usage and newfound experience.
What's next for EquityData
We are looking towards hosting it and making it more accessible to people while setting up our APIs for enterprise usage.
