Inspiration

As the charge is just building a bridge to a better world, we started thinking- what exactly can we do to make these types of ideas and dreams created from hackathons a reality? Something that would facilitate the growth of budding businesses and help startups along- a startup for startups.

What it does

We built a website, Equinox, that facilitates the exchange of code and equity between freelancers and entrepreneurs. Freelancers can browse projects they seem interested in, and entrepreneurs can pick and choose both which freelancers they're interested in, as well as which code from which developer is being used.

How we built it

A lot of HTML and CSS, with some JS backend and attempted Firebase and and Netlify to host and store data.

Challenges we ran into

We had a lot of trouble using Firebase's database and Netlify's identification, so our backend at the moment is quite minimal- we're using local storage through JavaScript to collect information about form submissions and etc.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our website looks very clean and professional, with mostly functional form submission and easy navigation.

What we learned

We learned a lot about the logistics of hosting through Netlify and Firebase, and through the actual Hackathon, learned about the experiences of women in STEM and new languages.

What's next for Equinox Investing

Sadly, this type of project would take a large amount of funding to get off the ground (if only Equinox actually existed!). But for future endeavors, we'll definitely use this as inspiration and experience.
