Inspiration

As we move more towards a work from home environment, a blur in the boundaries between work and leisure starts to emerge. The result from the combination of these activities is an unhealthy lifestyle. This observation was further backed by research papers like "The negative impact of long working hours on mental health in young Korean workers," which showed that long working hours take a heavy toll on one's mental health. Having done further research, we were inspired to create an app that kept one's working hours between 31 to 40 hours while finding and booking time in the user's calendar for the user to enjoy for themselves. This would then create a better lifestyle and thus would reduce the likelihood of high-stress levels, signs of depression, and suicidal ideation.

What it does

Our application has two functions. The first setting allows the user to book their regular day to day activities like working from 8 to 5 or scheduled doctors appointment. The second setting allows the user to either pick their own reactional activity or allow us to randomly select something for them to do that is non-work related. This is all found in one tab. The second tab allows the user to see what their weekly schedule is looking like.

Challenges we ran into

There were many challenges that we ran into. Some of these included things like page time outs and broken image links.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • We are proud to have managed to have the user book timeslots in their calendar and have it show up in the schedule tab.

What we learned

We learned how to use and develop with ionic and react.

What's next for Equilibrium

  • create the algorithm that finds the optimal time for the user to work on themselves and have it track the amount of hours the user spent on work to help them keep a more balanced lifestyle. -google calendar API -back end development
  • native development
