Inspiration
The State Bar of California's California Justice Gap Study found that in the past year, 55% of Californians experienced at least one civil legal problem, yet nearly 70% received no legal assistance. It is clear that Californians could benefit from a small companion in their pocket to guide them in the right way.
What it does
Provides a chat-like setup that allows users to sign in, interact with the bot, find their chat histories, and view old websites/organizations with the links that the chat recommended to them based on their issues and questions.
How we built it
We used the language Swift, FireBase for authorization and User database, Flask for the backend, Gemini-API key, and query configurations.
Challenges we ran into
We have never used any of these technologies before so learning them along the way was challenging, debugging, and running into issues that documentation and online help could not help with.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Created a stable product that provides users with accurate information and can be helpful to those who do not have a sophisticated education in their rights.
What we learned
We learned teamwork, perseverance, and new technologies.
What's next for EquiBot
Better UI/UX Design, more features to make the app more interactive, fixing bugs in animation, and creating more resources available online to be found in the app to better support the idea that the app simplifies the process.
