Inspiration
As of today, nearly 60 metric tons of e-waste are generated every year and the is problem is worsening given the rapid growth of electronic usage worldwide. Waste in landfills can cause a plethora of problems from the sheer amount of time it takes to decompose to the toxic chemicals they emit. Only 17% of global e-waste is properly getting disposed, as the means of reselling/disposing old electronics are convoluted and time consuming. Equell was built to solve this problem. (E-Electronic and Quell=to Stop)What it does
Equell is a platform that allows users to get rid of e-waste in a seamless and efficient manner by connecting users directly to those interested in their products. From buyers interested in second-hand products and technicians looking for spare parts to companies looking to buy e-waste, this platform is for everyone.
How we built it
This project was an immense and ambitious undertaking, as we built a platform which has a UI, backend, integration with AI and Crypto.
Challenges we ran into
Because of the sheer scope of our project and the various elements it encompassed, we had our hands full with the execution of various moving parts.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud to have worked as a team on an immense project that had various complex features.
What we learned
We learned the value of cooperation and teamwork, especially on such a time-consuming and difficult undertaking. Each team member was working on a completely different aspect of the project and being able to merge and integrate everything was a challenging task that we succeeded in.
What's next for Equell
We want to add final touches to the UI to make it more user friendly, partner with recycling companies so users can also recycle their unwanted device, and train additional AI Models (we already have one that detects cracked screen) to make it more applicable in real-world scenarios.
