Inspiration

EqualPath started because of a close friend with autism who had trouble finding a job. He has great skills, but finding the right job was hard for him. Seeing his struggles made us realize the need for a website that connects people with disabilities to employers who need their talents. Our goal is to make it easier for everyone, no matter their abilities, to find good job opportunities.

What it does

EqualPath helps people with disabilities to find jobs. User can register as a disabled person and fill onboarding KYC data, showcasing their skills and talents. Employers (Person under an organization / company / independent employers who need their skills can view the profiles and connect with potential candidates through email. Our platform makes it easier for everyone to find and offer jobs that match their needs and abilities.

How we built it

Website was built using React Typescript and Firebase. Design was made using Figma.

Challenges we ran into

The challenges we ran into was lack of sleep time because some of us didn't bring sleeping bags and also the warm weather surrounding the sleeping area and hackathon area was a bit too noisy. We also ran into some trouble when we first brainstorm the idea and purpose of the website.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the website that we have created because it really translates the hard work that we put in under this 36 hours of hackathon. Even though it might look unfinished and not polished, we have created the MVP for the project and can inspire others to create a similar website that can help people with disabilities.

What we learned

We learned that because this is our first Hackathon that we participated in. We also was proud of the idea that we have created through the implementation of this website. We as a team have learned that teamwork is really important in this kind of competition because everyone is obviously going to be ambitious and wanting to win.
