Inspiration
The main source of inspiration for me to build EqualityInDiversity came when I began researching this issue and found out how so many people are deprived of basic human rights even today. I read several stories and articles that kept on inspiring me to build a platform that can help bring a change.
What it does
Equality in Diversity is a web application that serves as a platform for educating people about the social evil of Social Inequality. It displays statistics on the current state of social equality in the world and provides links to various reports published on this issue, allowing people to analyse the situation themselves. Additionally, it offers information about the various policies and schemes implemented worldwide by different organisations and governments. The platform informs individuals about what they can do on a personal level to combat this issue effectively. Moreover, Equality in Diversity provides a space where people can express their views and share their findings by writing to us.
How we built it
EqualityInDiversity is built using various programming languages and tools like HTML, CSS, Javascript, React, Node.js, MongoDB.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge faced was in obtaining correct and recent data on this topic. During my research, I found out that not much attention is being paid to this issue, and even though some efforts are being made to tackle it, there is still a lot more required both at the government level and at an individual level. This needs to be changed to make the world a better place to live for everyone, irrespective of their ethnicity, color of skin, gender, locality/country they come from, and the language they speak.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The thing which I am most proud of is that by creating EqualityInDiversity, I can play a small part in educating people so that we, as a society, can eliminate this social evil from its roots. While building the application, I learned how people are deprived of privileges, opportunities, and basic rights just because they are from different ethnic groups, speak different languages, or are of the opposite gender. I am proud that I got educated myself and now, through this platform, I can help others get educated and bring a positive change to the world.
What we learned
While researching this topic, I found out how people are deprived of privileges, opportunities, and basic rights just because they are from different ethnic groups, speak different languages, or are of the opposite gender. I realized how important it is for us, as a society, to make changes on a global level so that the world can serve as an equal platform for everyone. I learned what I can do as an individual to eliminate social inequality, and through EqualityInDiversity, I would like to spread all this knowledge to everyone.
What's next for EqualityInDiversity
The next thing for EqualityInDiversity is to get a platform so that people can view it and make themselves and others educated so that we can curb this issue and bring Social Eqality.
