women in the union trades....non-traditional employment for women...means equal pay...promotions...and most all unions now have hiring or referral halls....in order for journeywomen to get back to work ...the referal hall and hiring halls should be linked to the dept of labors data basis ...most referal hall or hiring halls have a computer system....but most do not operate effieciently and are court ordered....executive order #11246 and eeo50 along with other nys and city rules are in effect but not enforced...this is why journeywomen are the first to be laid off and underemployed....most nationwide jobsites infrastructure is funded either through PLA jobs...or federally funded or funded through DASNY or the city...there shouldn't be a lot of red tape....but there is...just like a drivers license....court ordered referral halls should be linked to the DOL and maybe the EEOC....red flags can be drawn early on to prevent discrimination to union tradeswomen.....an easier way of doing the statistics and monitoring.....i read the the dept of labor presses...eeoc literature....i also belong to sisters of the building trades.....there are many resources to go get info i even wrote President Obama a letter about union tradeswomen being underemployed and being the to be laid off and loose all union benefits and not being able to get job promotions....!!!
