Inspiration

EqualHub was inspired by the need to address gender inequality and social exclusion in the digital age. We wanted to create a platform that not only educates but also empowers users to take action and make a real-world impact.

What it does

EqualHub provides an interactive learning experience that focuses on SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). The platform includes various modes, such as Quest Mode, Play Mode, Skill Mode, and Impact Mode, each designed to engage users and help them understand equality issues in a fun and impactful way.

How we built it

We developed EqualHub using modern web technologies, including React for the frontend and Node.js for the backend. We integrated APIs to track progress, measure impact, and provide real-time feedback on user interactions. Our team worked collaboratively, utilizing agile methodologies to ensure that each feature aligned with our mission of promoting inclusivity and equality.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was ensuring the platform's accessibility and inclusivity for a diverse range of users. We faced technical issues with integrating real-time progress tracking and ensuring a seamless user experience across different devices. Additionally, finding the right balance between educational content and interactive activities was a challenge we had to iterate on multiple times.

We are proud of the unique, gamified experience we've created that successfully combines education with social impact. We've built a platform that not only educates users about gender equality and inequalities but also engages them in real-time actions to make a difference. Additionally, we're proud of how our team collaborated to overcome technical and design challenges to create a platform that aligns with our vision.

Quest Mode

Quest Mode transforms learning about equality into an interactive journey, focusing on SDG 5 and SDG 10. It includes:

  • Scenario Analysis: Real-world situations to spot discrimination and bias.
  • Interactive Fact Matching: Connects statistics with global gender and inclusion data.

  • Micro-Advocacy Challenges: Practical tasks encouraging advocacy and awareness.
