Inspiration
We were inspired by the urgent need to address social inequality and create a space where individuals from all walks of life could engage in meaningful conversations, share their perspectives, and work collectively to promote positive change. So we decided to make Equal Reach, which is a dynamic and impactful online platform dedicated to promote social equality and fostering awareness about pressing societal issues.
What it does
Equal Reach is a dynamic online platform that serves as a hub for thought exchange, knowledge sharing, and education on social inequality. It empowers users to engage in open discussions, share valuable insights, and collaborate on initiatives that promote with their perspective social equality.
How we built it
We developed Equal Reach using Next.js, a cutting-edge JavaScript framework that enabled us to create a seamless and interactive user experience. MongoDB was integrated to efficiently manage data related to user-generated content and interactions. Next-Auth ensured secure user authentication, while Prisma facilitated optimized database interactions and Tailwind CSS is used for styling, providing a responsive and visually appealing interface.
Challenges we ran into
Throughout the development process, we encountered challenges in striking the right balance between user engagement and platform performance. Ensuring a safe and inclusive space while promoting open dialogue was another complex challenge. We were also using Next 13 (App Router) latest update. Integrating backend with the frontend in App router was also really challenging because App router update brought breaking changes in Nextjs.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We take pride in providing a platform for a vibrant and supportive community where the users can feel valued and inspired to make a difference. Additionally, addressing technical challenges and delivering a seamless user experience and using & learning typescript with Next-Auth at the same time during development has been a significant accomplishment.
What we learned
Developing Equal Reach has been a journey of continuous learning and growth:
- We have gained insights into the complexities of social inequality issues and the power of technology in fostering positive change.
- Integrating Next-Auth for secure user authentication was crucial for establishing a safe and trustworthy environment.
- Using Typescript for the first time to write dry and error less code.
What's next for Equal Reach
The future of Equal Reach is filled with exciting possibilities and a continued commitment to promoting social equality and fostering meaningful connections. We aim to incorporate user feedback, enhance features, like adding a blog post section where a user can inspire everyone with their own story and experience, better user experience and much more.
