Inspiration

We were inspired by the statistic that black-sounding names were less likely to get an interview.

What it does

We created a Jobsite that mitigated bias and discrimination by allowing employers to censor the personal information of applicants.

How we built it

We struggled with writing a functioning back-end with just Python. We used text files as a database.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We learned how to connect the front-end and the back-end of a web application.

What we learned

We learned how to create a fully-functioning web application using Python Flask.

What's next for Equal Opportunity

We hope to introduce the censoring aspect of Equal Opportunity to other fields such as college admissions and grading. We also hope to expand the features of our Jobsite to add communication between potential employers and applicants.
