Inspiration
Inspiration comes from the shared economy model, Tesla's energy management infrastructure and a vision of a great and sustainable future.
What it does
E-PILVI allows lowering the price for energy, remove the friction of choosing the energy provider and contribute to more sustainable future, by enabling customers to generate, store and sell energy to those who demand it, using solar panels, windmills, batteries and other green technologies. And we get revenue from energy transaction fees and selling and renting energy equipment.
How we built it
We built it by applying Platform Business Model to NEVE's organization architecture. We used the previous experience of companies like Uber, Lyft, Airbnb, and other Peer-to-peer services.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was to define a persona within the closed environment. We were happy to see that every member of our team is an advocate of the green movement and sustainable future. However, we are not representing the target audience or NEVE's customers. So we had to get into the shoes of current and potential customers of NEVE. Another challenge was to apply the business model, that works in fields of banking and sharing services, to the area of energy, where it was never used before. We had to do extensive research on the business model to understand the underlying benefits of it and it's application to the new area.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of successfully brainstorming many ideas, and have very insightful interviews with mentors from NEVE and DASH.
What we learned
We have learned about the energy situation in Rovaniemi, Peer-to-peer business model, that it's important to talk and get insights from mentors. We also practiced using the
What's next for EPILVI
We were creating this platform with an idea of future scaling. In the future, we see Rovaniemi as an Emissions Free and green city. This can be accomplished by using EV's and charging points. Using EV's will allow to store energy in their batteries and share excessive energy to those in need. We also get away from centralized charging points to user centered charging services where two custometrs fulfill each other needs.
