EphConnect

Inspiration

As Freshman, we had trouble determining what resources to use on campus for our myriad of problems. It took a lot of time to search through the web for an accurate answer, so we wanted a way to easily connect to the resources we needed.

What it does

EphConnect is an AI chatbot that connects students to campus resources and answers their questions about Williamstown.

How we built it

We used various prompts to build our chatbot and sorted through what we saw as essential pieces of data for the bot. Information from the different Williams sites was inputed into the knowledge dataset for our AI.

Challenges we ran into

We experienced some hallucinations during our trial runs of EphConnect.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to reduce hallucinations by giving EphConnect specific commands.

What we learned

Everything was trial and error. We made a lot of mistakes and did a lot of research to correct them. In fact, we started off building our AI chatbot on another platform and switched to OpenAI after running into a lot of problems.

What's next for EphConnect

We want to continue fine-tuning our product so that it can also help students create a course schedule or recommend classes and clubs based on an uploaded resume.
