The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in the 1914 ignited World War I (1914-1918) leading to the collapse of empires and the reshaping of global power dynamic. This project explores how the world might have been different if the assassination had not occurred focusing on the hypothetical survival of Austria-Hungary. By analyzing key metrics before and after the war, we compare the economic, political, and demographic paths of Austria-Hungary to those of Austria and Hungary as separate nations today. Through data analysis and forecasting, we aim to understand the long-term impact of this pivotal event on the countries involved and the broader global landscape.
