Inspiration

This is my first hackathon event and I wanted to know what participating in a hackathon felt like. I am glad that I tried and I am looking forward to improving my skills and participating in more events.

What it does

In this mobile app, users can add text to 'reminder' boxes and remind themselves to practice sustainable environmental practices.

How we built it

React Native and its packages such as screen navigation. I used Expo for the iOS simulator and Android emulator.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was implementing iOS push notifications. However I faced issues configuring the app delegate files and couldn't find and fix the issue.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud that I at least finished and submitted my project in my first Hackathon.

What we learned

I learned how to initialize and work with different packages in React Native. I learned to persevere through challenges and move on from unfixed issues.

What's next for Environminder

Outside of this event, I hope that I can implement notifications and allow the user to schedule the intervals of their reminders.
